List of Episodes Sorted by Release Date
Release dates can be important in analyzing a movie. Knowing it's place in time provides a more precise context of what was happening in the world at that exact moment. Release dates can also tell you what the studios thought of their movie. Our list is based off of information about the first public showing of a movie. Sometimes movies released to major theaters in the USA in 1992 or later had their public debut at a film festival or foreign country in 1991. That makes them eligible for our list, and also makes certain movies people generally think of as from 1991 ineligible (as they were shown somewhere in 1990). Naturally we don't have concrete release dates for a lot of the movies, especially those that were direct to video or foreign releases, but we'll use the information that we can get and briefly explain the date used during the episode if we notice a potential discrepancy.

From our research through IMDB, we have found U.S. box office information for 257 films released in 1991. Many more do not. If we have reliable information to show that we missed something, we can always adjust things.
Our first 25 episodes were randomized in batches. Episodes 1-5 came from the top 25 Box Office (B.O.) performers; Episodes 6-10 were from B.O. 26-50; Episodes 11-15 expanded to B.O. 51-100; Episodes 16-20 are B.O. 101-150; and Episodes 21-25 are from B.O. 151-257.
